It hardly seems possible that 2021 is coming to a close, and we all continue to experience both the disruption to our health care system due to the pandemic and the innovation in health care technology being driven by newly identified priorities.
At Life Image, we have spent 2021 making significant investments in our platform, expanding our interoperability capabilities, releasing new applications, and integrating with new partners; and yes, we continue to operate our offices remotely and comply with the variety of regulatory requirements structured to keep our colleagues and customers healthy.
Much of this work has come to fruition right at the end of this year, and much of this newsletter identifies the new releases, features, and applications designed to help our customers continue to lower their costs, improve their care delivery, and advance interoperability.
While attendance at RSNA ’21 was much smaller than in previous years, it was interesting to see the evolving maturity and developing breadth of imaging AI. It’s hard to believe how far it has advanced over the last several years. It was not surprising to see others start to speak to the problem we identified in 2017, that AI was promising fantastic solutions, but it was easier to develop the AI than to make it vendor agnostic and available in the provider workflow. As an example of leadership in this area, we were proud to announce at RSNA ’21 that we are partnering with IBM Watson Health to provide their suite of AI and AI partner solutions to Life Image customers. Given that IBM Watson has workflow solutions that overlap some of what Life Image provides, some in our industry would wonder why we would work together. Well, we both understand that working together in an interoperable way adds more value to you. There are more details about this below.
We are also pleased to be able to note we are finally gearing up to deploy our interoperability suite for imaging exchange with the Veterans Health Administration. Given the delay caused by the federal pandemic response, it’s great to see this essential health care service finally become available to our veterans. This should also accelerate referrals from the VA for connected Life Image customers. Again, just as with IBM, we have created a unified workflow with LILA to address interoperability with both these partners without changes required to burden you.
Our Life Image teams and executives are ready to tell you even more about our products and services and discuss what we can do to help you make providing health care easier and more effective. We welcome the opportunity to virtually meet with our customers in the days and weeks ahead.
Thank you for everything you do throughout the year to support patient care. And thank you for choosing us to be a part of that mission.
Stay safe and stay in touch.

Life Image Works to Begin Deployment of Image Exchange for the VA
After nearly two years of delays, which were largely due to the VA’s focus on combatting COVID-19, Life Image is beginning its initial deployments of image exchange for the VA. It will take some time to complete the deployment for every facility nationally, given the nearly 200 VA Medical Centers and the 1,800 private hospitals being connected. We are honored to be able to provide our service to our veterans and to make the delivery of patient care for these heroes easier for our customers.
Contact your Client Relationship Manager to discuss how this new collaboration can support your workflows.

Version End of Life and Version End of Support
Please be aware that several product versions are reaching their end of life, and one product will no longer be supported.
Each major release of software introduces new features and fixes and often includes performance, stability, and security enhancements. Using outdated versions can leave you open to vulnerabilities or lead to workflow inefficiencies, so it’s important you remain current with updates.
To give patients and staff a superior experience, customers still using the legacy Clinical Connector solution for patient data sharing are urged to migrate over to Patient Connect Portal as soon as possible. Clinical Connector began sunsetting in 2020, and we will no longer support this product by the end of 2021.
LILA versions 5.5 and below and LITE versions 2.0.3 and below have also reached their end of life. Customers on these legacy versions are encouraged to plan to upgrade in the coming months. Contact email@example.com to coordinate your upgrade to the latest version.
