Digital Health Innovators Convene in Boston to Examine Impact of Federal Government’s Proposed Healthcare Interoperability Rules

Life Image, MassChallenge and Ogden Murphy Wallace to Host Event Featuring HHS’s Dr. Don Rucker, Beth Israel’s John Halamka and Other Healthcare Leaders to Address Interoperability and Patient Data

WHAT: Life Image, the world’s largest global network for sharing clinical and imaging data that is powered by industry leading interoperability standards; MassChallenge, a global network of zero-equity startup accelerators; and Ogden Murphy Wallace, P.L.L.C., a multispecialty law firm, will bring together some of healthcare’s top influencers to deliberate on how the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) proposed rules surrounding interoperability in healthcare are expected to shape the future direction of the industry.

At the event, a panel of experts will discuss the ONC’s proposed rules to improve the interoperability of health information by requiring that patients have the ability to electronically access their entire electronic medical record at no cost. The public currently has the opportunity to comment on the rule until June 3, 2019.

WHO: The event will kick-off with a discussion with Don Rucker, M.D., the ONC’s National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, who will field questions from David Schoolcraft, Partner and Chair of the Digital Health Law Group at Ogden Murphy Wallace, on how the federal government’s proposed rules may drastically impact the access, exchange, and use of health data, and the effect these rules may have on companies that operate in this sector.

A panel of experts will also discuss how potential regulatory changes would impact digital health companies’ business models and potentially create new opportunities. Presenters include:

  • Laura Esserman, M.D., Director of the UCSF Breast Care Center and Founder of the Athena Breast Health Network
