Consider the gift of life. #GivingTuesday
Every 10 minutes, another person goes on the organ waiting list.
According to the United Network for Organ Sharing (@UNOS), more than 117,00 people are waiting for a lifesaving transplant. As you consider which causes and charities to support today on #GivingTuesday, consider the impact you could have if you sign up as an organ do
nor. With someone needing an organ every ten minutes, you could help to save a life. Now that’s impact.
This week, we’re at the Radiological Society of North America (@RSNA) conference in Chicago, brainstorming with the other 54,000-plus attendees about how to help patients live healthier lives. That’s our purpose at lifeIMAGE: to enable better clinical decision-making to improve patient outcomes. We help clinicians take better care of patients, and in turn, patients can take better care of themselves. Ultimately, it’s about saving lives.
We know from our work with regional organ donation groups around the country that, when an organ becomes available for a sick patient, every minute matters. The lifeIMAGE network enables teams of clinicians from point to point to initiate the process and more effectively collaborate. The clinical team that secures the organs is able to upload and send all of the patient’s diagnostic images and associated reports to a potential accepting hospital instantly. The receiving physicians can then immediately view the images and more quickly begin the surgical planning process.
Every. Minute. Counts. And so does every single donor. If you haven’t registered as a donor, please consider doing so. Visit organdonor.gov.
