lifeIMAGE™ has invented the universal imaging Inbox for e-Sharing of diagnostic imaging information, including images and reports. The lifeIMAGE Inbox makes it possible to securely collect, view, and share diagnostic cases among hospitals, physicians, and patients.
The Inbox forms the core of the lifeIMAGE service, and Inboxes are configured for the private use of physicians, patients, groups, and institutions. Inboxes are available in two distinct settings. The enterprise version, lifeIMAGE Local Appliance (lila)™, is installed on an institution’s private network and houses Inboxes for authorized users or groups within that institution. Alternatively, Inboxes can be remotely hosted, using the latest cloud and security technologies for anywhere access.
lifeIMAGE’s open and flexible architecture supports multiple browsers on Macs and PCs. Inbox users simply need their favorite browser and Adobe’s Flash player, which exists on over 95% of all personal computers. The Inbox is used to upload and view studies, share studies with others, receive shares from others, or download the content to a preferred viewer on their desktop, such as Osirix or eFilm. With enterprise hosted Inboxes, users can choose to nominate a study to be pushed to their local RIS/PACS.
The initial release of lila provides hospitals and physician groups with a simple and reliable tool to view, store, and share the contents of incoming patient CDs throughout a healthcare enterprise. lila’s capabilities will continuously expand, shortly allowing subscribers of the lifeIMAGE service to be able to communicate across institutions, and share results with outside referring physicians and patients, regardless of location.
