Solving the CD Problem
lifeIMAGE Enterprise: More Efficient Workflow for Patient CDs
Tertiary care hospitals, trauma centers, and cancer centers have become overwhelmed by a continuous tide of incoming CDs containing patients’ imaging exams. Inefficient management of these discs hinders clinical operations, consumes valuable physician time, and contributes to needless and sometimes harmful delays to patient care. lifeIMAGE Enterprise enables all authorized personnel on a hospital’s network to quickly access and review outside exams on CD, share them with colleagues, and import them seamlessly into the patient’s local permanent electronic medical record.
Dr. Keith Dreyer, Vice Chairman of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, discusses how MGH utilizes lifeIMAGE Enterprise to solve their incoming CD problem
____________
De-centralized CD upload
Every computer at the hospital becomes is a workstation for instantly uploading and sharing the contents of a patient CD. A simple and intuitive user interface means that front-desk and administrative staff can be trained to distribute the exams to clinicians.
One image viewer for all outside exams
lifeIMAGE Enterprise includes a single, intuitive image viewer for all outside media. Zero-download visualization with functionality for measurements, annotations, and more, makes clinical review of outside images fast and easy.
Import exams to PACS in seconds, not days
The service provides a simple, optional process for making an outside exam part of a patient’s permanent local medical record, if that is part of a facility’s outside exam protocol. This workflow eliminates the need to transport the CD to Radiology or the film library. Users simply make an electronic request for an exam to be imported to PACS. Designated gatekeepers review and process requests, and can easily normalize outside demographic data to match local patient information.
